Resources for Educators

It’s never too early to introduce students to history—and to their own family history. When young learners see themselves as part of a larger story, they begin to understand how individual lives shape communities, and how communities shape the world. Our materials are meant to help you open that door, one page—and one story—at a time.

Riley County Genealogical Society is proud to support educators who are helping the next generation discover the stories of the past. To make history more approachable and fun in the classroom, RCGS has partnered with the Riley County Historical Museum and Society to create two original coloring books that are available free of charge to educators. These coloring books designed to spark curiosity, encourage questions, and give students a hands-on way to connect with people, places, and events from long ago.

We've also included several commonly used classroom forms and a list of free research resources.
